God's Purpose vs. My Purpose

Content
Have you ever had someone come into the kitchen while you’re cooking and tell you you’re doing it wrong or how you could do it better? If you’re anything like me, this infuriates you, especially if it’s something you’ve made for them before and they've always liked the outcome. The thing is, that is exactly what it is like when we try to separate our purpose from God’s or try to do things on our own. He is God, we are not. His thoughts are not our thoughts – they far exceed anything we could ever dream of. He knows what He’s doing. We can never ever make things as great as God can. No matter how much money we have, how great our vision seems – it would all be filthy rags compared to what God’s vision is for us.
I have actually tried (many times!) to do things on my own but when I do that and I get what I think I wanted, it ends up being like dry toast – tasteless and unsatisfying! But when I actually pray about my purpose, all of my struggles start to make sense and I start to find that I do actually fit and that my gifts, personality and struggles are all a part of God’s plan. He designed you the way you are for a reason – because He wants to use you for His big purpose! What I’ve found is that when I really pray that God will open my heart and show me the purpose of all the things I’ve faced in my life my selfish desires start to go away and what God wants becomes what I want.
The world tells us that it’s all about us and if we are smart or talented we deserve praise. The thing is, it’s all from God and it’s all so that He can use you to accomplish His purpose. And His purpose will be for your good as well! Will it always be easy? No! Will it ever be painful? Heck yes! But at the end of the day it is all for your good because it’s for His purpose!
