How to kick a bad mood

Content
Have you ever just had one of those days where you are just in a bad mood? Maybe things aren’t going so great at work or you and your spouse had an argument this morning. It’s happened to all of us! I recently released a podcast all about this topic that you can listen to here.
I was born a happy person. I grew up chubby with bad grades and not very athletic but I was still a mostly happy kid. Yet there are sometimes I just get in the absolute worst mood. The one thing to keep in mind is that regardless of what’s going on, it’s your stewardship how you react. That means don’t go on Facebook and vent to everyone in some really negative post. Don’t yell at everyone or stomp your feet. All that does is breed more negativity. Once you start down that spiral it can be tough to come back up and the thing is, that’s what the evil one wants. He doesn’t want you to take responsibility or to be happy. He most definitely doesn’t want you to see the bright side of things.
That means it’s our job to work on that. While I may not know exactly what causes a bad mood, I do know how to change it.
With that, I am going to share my 4 simple steps to kick a bad mood.
PRAY
I will literally pull over on the side of the road if I start getting mad. I will take a few moments to ask for help in dealing with the situation. It doesn’t have to be long and involved. You just take a few moments to ask Him to help you. Maybe you are at work and someone’s really making you mad or you are just having a bad day. Go to the bathroom or find some place that you can hide and just ask God for help. It’s pretty simple.
GET UP AND MOVE
If you haven’t worked out in a while then there’s your problem! I love you, but that is one of the MOST important things to do. Get up and get your body moving. It needs to happen almost every day in some way. On top of that, you need to play your happy music. It doesn’t matter what that is, just put in your earbuds, play your happy music and knock out some squats or walk around.
SEND A POSITIVE MESSAGE
Get out of your own head for five minutes and send someone a really nice email or text, something. Let them know they are doing a great job and that you appreciate them. Even better, write them a handwritten note or give a little card. Making someone else happy and letting them feel special can make your day better too.
MAKE A LIST
The last one you may not even need, but make a list of all the things that are great in your life. You have a warm bed, clothes on your back and food in the fridge, so you have something to be grateful for. Make that list as long as you want, and then if you need to, flip it over and list all the things that are making you mad. Get it off your chest. I bet that list isn’t nearly as long as the other side.
Have you ever tried any of these?
