“But he said to me ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9
There is so much encouragement in this one scripture. God says, “My grace is all you need… [and] My power works best in weakness.” It’s a true declaration of HOPE, unmatched by any other alternative. It does not say to be strong enough, but to be WEAK. God wants our weakness exposed and lifted up to Him, so HE can heal us. And by His grace and power, He can do that.
Truth is, we are a broken people who make mistakes. Therefore, it’s easy to believe life is what it is. So, rather than heal the hurt surrounding us, we opt to hide it; masking it by exterior indulgences. We fill the void - where shame and guilt reside - instead of opening our hearts and releasing it. But God is telling us “come to Me!”, that He is able to heal our hurt when we bring Him our brokenness. Only then can we be released from that weight and find freedom.
In the book of Proverbs 28:13, Solomon writes, “People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.” [NLT] When we confess our sins - our pain, shame, and guilt - God so graciously brings His mercy and love. That’s because He wants each one of us to prosper, and live a life FULL of purpose and joy. He encourages us to admit our weakness and lay down our shame, allowing Him to be the bearer of our burdens.
He is big enough to handle it and big enough to heal it.
Confess…and let Him do His work in your life.
